In preparation for the arrival of my New Baby …
    SSD's-Are they really worth it?-stork.jpg

I’ve loaded a spare Hard Drive with a fresh install of Windows .. (the Master for the new SSD)
I’ve directed the temp files of Photoshop to go to the X partition.

I think the answer to this is Yes ..
But should I move the system Page files to X or should it be in a partition of it’s own ???

Anything else I can do at this point ???

I would not move the page file. It is not worth it unless you are really scambling for space on the SSD. The page file will probably have very little use one way or the other - you can check that in Resource Monitor > Memory tab > Hard faults.
But do not forget to align the SSD because you are "moving" the system rather than installing it (the Win7 installer would usually take care of that). Also make sure that the Defrag is disabled. Some people disable Superfetch, but I leave it enabled and found that to be useful. Here is a tweak utility that makes most of the recommended settings. Even if you do not use it, it will give you a list of items you might want to look at.

    Hello Noyb,

I would leave the page file on the SSD if you have the space for better performance.

Overall, oh yes a SSD is worth it over a HDD. You can compare the benchmarks below from my old RAID 0 HDD's compared to the new SSD to help see the difference.

SSD's are, without question, the singlemost best improvement you can do to your system.

SSD Support is Native to W7

Once you get the SSD installed, start saving for another one - put them in RAID 0. Then get a 3rd and a 4th like I have - then you'll be able to screw stuff up even before you think of it.

On a more serious note - good luck with the SSD.

It was installed and running when I posted my "Performance"
Thank to whs's tips on align .. It only took me about 10 minutes to clone my master HDD to the SSD.

Cut my Photoshop load time from about 6 seconds to about 2 including the file to open

    More SSDs ??? Where ??

That was said kind of jokingly - BUT - I have 6 SATA slots on my mobo - 5 SSDs and a DVD. Glad to see you are getting the increased speed - ENJOY!
