Headphone Jack Problem - Help!

Hello All, my sound output on my laptop (the headphone jack...) is broken, almost certainly a hardware fault, I've tried pretty much everything I know of within windows to no avail. It's only outputting to the right.

So, is there any way to configure windows so that it recognises my line-in or microphone (pink and blue ;D) jacks as a headphone jack?

Hi psychfunk,

Sound cards are unfortunately not wired that way :/ Inputs and outputs are not interchangeable. You'll need to either buy a USB external sound card, or get your laptop fixed.

Unless of course, it's not a hardware issue - are you experiencing the right-channel-only issue with multiple pairs of headphones, different speaker sets, etc?

Cheers,

Yeah I've tried several sets of headphones and speakers in my broken laptop and iPods and friends' computers, and they're all working fine. I was just sitting there one day, listening to my music and my left audio dropped out. Very suddenly, too. Never got it back ;[
I'll fetch myself an external sound card. I'm pretty decent with computers, but sound and audio has always been my downfall... Thankyou very much for the help, will give you some rep cause you saved me some time.

Headphone jack only in mono
The headphone jack on my new laptop is only playing in mono. Anybody know why? Edit: Actually it's in stereo, but it doesn't pan all the way. If I pan an audio track 100% to the right or left, it only pans about halfway in my headphones (or in my speakers if that's what I plug in).
