Windows 7 - Device Manager

I have recently noticed disappearance of all of the devices in the Device Manager Window on my 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate PC. I have tried editing the Windows registry as instructed in other Web sites with no luck and thought this may be the only place where I can get workable solutions from. Please let me know what you should do in this scenario to bring the devices back in Device Manager again.

I suggest a system restore to get to a point before the troubles began.

Are the devices recognized at all, or is the Device Manager the only place it doesn't show up? Which devices are not displayed?

I think you're down to two options.

You can either use system restore to revert your PC back to a time before you deleted the registry keys. (I recommend trying this first)

Or...

You can back up all your data, and reinstall Windows.

Just identify your hardware and find a secure connection to download the correct drivers. The most recent obviously as 7 is relatively new. Install them, device manager should recognize the change, yet if it doesn't reboot and it should, if it still doesn't rescan. You shouldn't have to revert with a restore point or reinstall. The drivers for your hardware are just apparently not in the SQL or other windows driver services database. I have a similar piece of hardware bought from Hong Kong, but on installing the driver sent with it, I've had no issues with it functioning or being recognized in device driver.

Before you even attempt this though reboot and hit f8, run Windows repair. See if that works. See if they are visible in safe mode as well.

Thanks for the replies. I have not deleted the Windows Restiry settings nor saved any System Restore points. Restroing the Registry settings in fact did not bring back the drivers in the Device Manager windows. Reinstallation of the drivers does not make any change. I will try running registry recovery softare to see if it does any good.
