USB Boot - Not For Installation
hi
I want to flash my BIOS and to do this, I need to boot to a USB stick. I have used the BootFlashDOS utility to make my USB stick bootable, copied across the new BIOS and AFUDOS.EXE. When I reboot, I hit ESC which give me the option to select my USB drive to boot, but that's as far as it goes.
I went back to windows and looked at the USB drive and there is no CMD.EXE on it, only MSDOS.SYS and IO.SYS.
I even thought of using the old method whereby you format the drive you want using the /s switch, but that does not appear to be the way to create a bootable drive.
I have read many posts, but almost all of them show creating a stick comntaining Windows 7 install files.
I am not wanting this so I can install Windows 7, so please don't reply with those instructions. I merely have Windows 7 64bit installed and want to be able to boot to a command prompt in my USB flash drive to flash my BIOS. I am loathe to do it from within the Windows environment.
Any suggestions gladly accepted.
