Could be a bad seat or you may have had a stick go bad entirely.
If there are two, try removing one, then swapping them and make sure they both work fine individually. Then try both again.

it might be..have you try other slots?my bro fixed it with removing the ram and installing it again, is it because of this?
umm, i moved it to the other slot, but still shows that same thing
when bios screen splash at the startup.depend on your MOBO. F10 i reckon. go to advanced chip settings
p/s: I'll appreciate it if you fill your system specs.
I am having this same problem.I recently switched from windows 7 ultimate x64 to windows 7 ultimate x32 bit . I have 4 GB RAM usable, now it shows only 3GB as being usable...( in 32 bit windows...)
