1GB ram now showing only 512MB

    1GB ram now showing only 512MB


    OK, so i had 1GB of ram which worked perfectly before,now its tellin that its only 512MB ( 511MB usable) ... can you help? i cant seem to get it back to 1GB

    NOTE: I HAVE 1GB OF RAM AND WINDOWS 7 SHOWED IT AS ' 1.0 GB.' ( OR 1024MB) BEFORE, BUT NOW ITS SHOWING ONLY 512MB AND THE TOTAL VIRTUAL MEMORY TURNED INTO 1.50 GB

    Go to your BIOS and check how much ram is shared with the system!

    Is this a laptop?

    Have you tried checking to make sure the ram is seated properly?

    well, yea i tried that, but it wouldnt still show it as 1G, but why?

    CPU-Z is showing 1GB

    can you post your task manager with the performance tab?

    IMO,check out at the POST screen if your memories are recognized. See if it says 1GB or 512MB. If at the POST screen says 512MB then clearly it's something hardware issue (or bios outdated version).

    no, i didnt update any drivers recently, but my CPU power went of and it was making a alarm sound and then my bro fixed it with removing the ram and installing it again, is it because of this? anyways, screen shot time:
