    USB Keyboard

The other day I tried setting my laptop to use as a desktop computer for now. I hooked up the monitor and that was fine then I got to the keyboard and It wouldn't work for me with or without the laptop being closed. What I was hoping for was to use it with the lid shut.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium and it's a HP DV7 Notebook PC.

    Thanks for your help!

If your laptop is set to go to sleep when you shut the lid, then no, it probably isn't going to work. You may have to go into the power settings and check the lid options tab and set it to stay awake when the lid is closed.

Also, your USB keyboard may require drivers to enable it to work on your lappy. My Toshiba requires drivers, and I had to tell the laptop that I wanted to use an external keyboard. It's still running Vista, but yours might need the same settings.

I would check those things out first and let us know how it goes. :)

    And I almost forgot. Welcome!

    Thanks!
I did change it to not do anything when the lid shuts.
I will try the driver thing when I get home.
