Windows 7 HD display problems

Not the way it should, or the way I expect it to. Before Installing any custom drivers, it picked up the LCD as a non-pnp when using the HDMI connection. So it worked but only at low resolutions, which was pretty pointless as the VGA was performing better than the HDMI. As mentioned before, the system picks it up as it should with the analog connection. I only have one HDMI cable. I opted for a 5m cable for convenience, don't know if that could be a problem. Doubt they'd design a cable without compensating for attenuation. Are u suggesting the fault could lie with the cable itself?

It could be, you won't know until you try but that sounds like where your problem begins from what I've understood so far. Did you see stormy's post above?

I actually don't need audio through the monitor. I bought the HDMI cable under the impression that it's more visually advanced than DVI, only afterwards did I discover that it's the same. Would a DVI connection work? Wouldn't it give the same problem as the HDMI? I'd consider a DVI cable if all else fails, but right now i really want to try and get what I already have to work.

It would be worth trying a different cable, HDMI or DVI just to eliminate that as a possible cause.

Yeah, I could try to borrow a DVI cable from someone and test it. I'd still like to get the HDMI working, if I don't, I'll probably be getting myself the DVI cable. Thanks for the suggestion though
