Cannot get Win7 to see my eSATA external drive

Everything is working on my computer with Windows 7 except my eSATA external hard drive, which is a Antec MX-1 external enclosure. This worked fine in WinXP. At first I had the drive connected and on but the Win7 bootup screen (animated windows logo) would hang for 10+ minutes. As soon as I turn the external eSATA drive off, it woudl boot up just fine. I then tried turning the drive after everything booted up but Win7 cannot see the drive.

Any ideas? I checked Antecs site and they offer no drivers for the MX-1 enclosure, so it probably runs on default drivers.

I have a similar issue. It does not recognize the drive if the computer has been up for awhile and the drive powers down. I have to restart windows ( with drive off) , turn drive on after it says windows is starting ( just before the log on screen comes on) then it will see the drive after I get to deskop/logged on. I am wondering if it has to do with the power settings. (USB power savings or something) MY Drive is a Toshiba external 1 TB, Windows 7 Business Pro, HP DV7 1245dx laptop.

One another thought. Does your external drive have a builtin flash drive partitiion? It may need to be connected USB intially. As you said default drivers are loaded. The drivers on the flash partition (which should show up if you connect USB) may not be compatible with Windows 7 either. Also read your manual, my external hard drive specifically mention DO NOT attach drive to computer with BOTH USB and eSata cables at SAME time. One thing I noticed with my external Drive is that Windows 7, never shows the other partition(Flash). Only the regular parition. I have not yet connect the drive via USB, I am wondering if this should be avoided or not because of the drivers. Not sure that helps....just thinking out loud and maybe that will help someone come up with a better solution...

You can stay here and post to yourself. It is your call but it might be better if you were trying to help someone's problem that is less than a year old.

    Up to you

Actually my post is Directly related to this thread...
I have exactly the same issue with exactly the same HD in exactly the same enclosure today...
I just wondered if the OP resolved the problem and what the resolution was.
    Thanks.
