Install PCI card on laptop ?

    Hello,

I want to buy a DVB device - Twinhan 1025 It's a PCI device. Is it possible that I could get it to work on my laptop ?

There's a USB version but it doesn't have the supported features that I want.

    Thanks !

    No.
    Yes. :)

There are some solutions available, although not many. One method is an external case that plugs into your laptops Expansion slot, there may be other configurations too.
Take a look here at 2 examples from Magma, have a search for others.

Tim I'm going to have to side with the no, at least as far as the items you linked too. Those things are totally impractical unless you are using them in a professional environment, they are definitely not meant for the consumer market. As an example the single slot one you linked too,

List the features the PCI has that the USB doesn't and we'll try to find an alternate supplier.

what about these if you have an expresscard slot
    Twinhan 1028 DTV PCI-E Satellite TV Tuner Card - AzureWave AD-SE 200

    PE4H

There is a member on another forum I frequent that used that Expresscard adapter to hook a 2GB 5850 to his Lenovo Laptop,

@Stormy13, I think that "totally impractical" is a little tough..... let me explain nicely :) given that the solution fits the information provided and that you're not in a position to represent every consumer. Many people read our forums for a diverse number of reasons and I believe that all solutions should be included, thus providing more knowledge to the OP, us, current readers and future readers.

Perhaps you feel that the magma solution is too expensive? Well I did say "here at 2 examples from Magma, have a search for others", and Zepher has done exactly that and posted some great examples along the lines of what I was pointing out. Take a look, perhaps we can win you over.
