Windows 7 Mouse Acceleration Help!

You are my hero.

I've tested less than a minute but my cursor finally moves so intuitively that I believe there's little more to improve. I can point at a single pixel with ease, jump to the upper right corner of my screen, then to the bottom left, than precisely back to that single pixel without lifting my hand once.

In the hypothetical case that once the trackball might brake in halves, I could still use it by just rocking this half ball in the socket. And now that I think of it, this might actually have practical use for disabled people who are not able to roll the ball but are still able to rock it.

This has a little less acceleration around 2-3 about the same at 3 and a little more around 4+

It is hard to know what needs changing. Might have to tune it a bit more. Let me know.
In particular which DEVICE MOVEMENT need a speedier CURSOR MOVEMENT and which needs a slower.

just wanted to thank Eshan for his reply/suggestion listed above. I didn't have a gamer issue, but his suggestion let me to the Ease of Access center and for me unclicking the Activate a Window... option fixed my problem. Thanks.

To access "run": click on start globe, right click in area above "shutdown" button, choose properties, start menu tab, customize button, scroll down to find checkbox for "run command". Then it will show up on the start menu.

I'm having issues with the "MarkC_Windows7+Vista+XP_MouseFix_Builder".

On the 2nd prompt it says "Enter the desktop Control Panel, Display, text size (DPI) that will be used".

I put in 1600 and it says invalid??? How is text size a dpi that makes no sense to me. What am I suppose to put for a Control Panel value? A display value? Am I suppose to put comma's between them? Or am i just suppose to put the text size that the Display shows from the Control Panel? If that is the case then the comma's from this prompt need to be removed. in order to be proper grammer and not confusing.

And what does test_flatline do to the registry? There is nothing in the readme about this registry file.

The text size is usually 96 for XP and Vista and 100% for Windows 7.
The builder program puts your current DPI into the dialog for you (it should), so just click OK and accept the value it suggests.

The commas are supposed to be shorthand for:
1) Go to the Control Panel,
2) Go to the Display properties page,
3) Look at the text size (DPI) option.

TestFlatline.reg is a deliberately damaged curve used for testing only.
If you are not sure that registry mouse fixes are being loaded properly, then load TestFlatline.reg, reboot or logout, enable Enhanced pointer precision and your mouse response should be crap. If it is not crap, then there is somehow a problem applying registry mouse fixes.
If you are not sure if a particular video game needs a fix, then load TestFlatline.reg, reboot or logout, DISABLE Enhanced pointer precision and run your game. If the in-game mouse response is crap, then your game needs a mouse fix.
("Crap" == severely speed limited.)

Ah ok thanks that clears things up. I gave this to my friend as well but he got some sort of vbs script error but he's on Vista. For some reason there is two different versions of this Mark C fix out there and one seems to have all the different text sizes already in separate registry files. I had him use the other one for win7 with the 100% registry file and that seemed to work without any errors. Do you think that's going to be a problem though since you said Vista is usually 96%?

I'd be very interested in what that VBS error was, so that I can fix it!

Using one of the pre-built Mark C Windows 7 registry fixes on Vista WILL remove all acceleration, BUT response will not be exactly 1-to-1. He probably won't notice the difference, but if it were me, I'd want exact 1-to-1.

He can use the Cheese Mouse Fix specific to his in-game screen refresh rate, which will give him exact 1-to-1 (ESR - Hardware Forum).

OR, you can build a Vista REG file for him!
Run the builder VBS on your system, but select XP/Vista instead, and get him to tell you the values he uses (DPI, in-game refresh rate, etc), and the VBS won't import it into your PC, but the created REG file can then be sent to him. It will give exactly 1-to-1, assuming he tells you the correct in-game screen refresh rate he uses.

Please do let me know what his VBS error is.
