    Hard drive clone help!

    Hello Guys,
    Im new to this forum.

Im deciding to make an upgrade to the hard drive on my notebook. Its a 250gb hitachi.
I have a 500gb WD and i need to know if there's a way to clone everything from my old hard drive, (including the os)
Which steps should i follow and which kinds of software would you recommend?

I have a 64 bit based computer and obviously w7.

    I will appreciate your help!

As PhoneMan suggested, WD support can help you as they have a clone program which will probably represent the easiest solution for you, if not,
then following approach works-i've done it:

    CREATE A SYSTEM REPAIR DISK
START | type System Repair | Enter key | Create Disk button
CREATE AND RESTORE A SYSTEM IMAGE
    CREATE A SYSTEM IMAGE BACKUP
    · START | type Backup your computer | Enter key
    · In left-hand pane, select Create a System Image
    · select where you want to save the backup | Next
    · Select the drives you want to backup | Next
    · Start Backup button
    · Finish button after completion

    RESTORE A SYSTEM IMAGE BACKUP
    · Boot from the System Repair CD you created.
    · Connect the external drive with the backup image
    · NEXT button (change language if desired)
    · Restore your computer using a system image
    that you created earlier
    radio button
    · NEXT button
    · Use the latest available system image radio button
    · NEXT button
    · Format and repartition disks checkbox
    · NEXT button
    · FINISH button
    · YES button
    CLONE A DISK
Yes, you can use the Create & Restore steps listed above when you want to replace your hard disk with one of same or larger size.

    Ok Karl & Jim ...
I'm new to Windows 7 and this forum. I can understand that you can make the System Image backup but how do you get that Image onto the 500GB Drive? I'm not that familiar with a Notebook...I thought they only have one HDD.
Certaiinly the notebooks doesn't have the memory to hold the image and I didn't think you could put a SI on a Cd or can you? Old Guy wants to know more.
