Not Detecting Extra Memory

Hey guys, I wanted to upgrade my memory from 2gb to 4 gb, got a pair of 2x1gb corsair xms cmx1024-3200c2, installed it in the mb and the bios only detect 3gb, went into windows 7 x86 and it said

"4gb installed but only 2.89 is usable"

also when i got back into my windows my video card drivers was gone, my aero visual package has been changed to solid colors. tried reinstalling the video card drivers and it said it couldn't find my card, went into windows 7 x64, same problem.

so tried swapping memory config to 2 corsair then 2 ocz, still did the same thing, remove the corsair, and went back into windows and everything was fine, nvidia card is there, so is the panel,, same aero package prior to the install.

anyone know what the problem could be? just incompatible memory or not enough power?

thanks.

Might be memory, or might be a max memory setting in msconfig. type msconfig in search, go to the advanced tab. Look for max memory. It should be unchecked.

Memory - Set Maximum Amount Used by Windows 7

let us know if that doesnt help
