On Windows 7 Professional x64 I've downloaded, extracted and installed ScanWizard 5 version 6.63 and did manual driver update by Devices Manager. Drivers are in directory Disk 1/Vista extracted archive.
That allowed me to successfully install driver (if no sm 3800 on the list then pick scanner 4800). The problem was that ScanWizard didn't see it.
On Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit (on Notebook) i did the same except i already have installed S.W. 5 version 6.32 and it works!!! I updated to newest 6.63 and it stopped working - SOLVED. Installation of 6.32 and everything is working great on x64 and 32 bit.

    Generally - on 32 bit I've installed scanner4800 and on x64 scanmaker 3800.
ScanWizard is showing ScanMaker 3800 on both systems and both are working like a charm.

    EDIT
Well - after some time i had to reinstall system and my advice must be completed. After driver instalation from Vista folder i had to install Scanwizard 6.30 from Microtek/3800 site to make that scanwizard see scanner. 6.63 and 6.32 didn't see it. Strange - before 6.32 was working...

I have done all the steps they are written in the solution but my scanmaker 3800 even doesn´t work. The device manager shows that the scanner is instaled and functioning but if i run the scantool in windows 7 (64bit),the problem reprt said, that he can not find a scanner?

    What could i else do?

Scanmaker 3800 driver for Windows 7

What I did, and it worked on Windows 7:
    1 Booted up PC.

2 Connected to USB (I called ‘A’) & switched on power to Scanmaker 3800.

3 Loaded driver V6_30 as Microtek instructions for XP (consider not doing this next time?).

4 Deleted “scanmaker” driver in Computer\Properties\Device Manager\Image Devices (or similar description).

    5 Shut down PC

    6 Transferred USB from ‘A’ to ‘B’.

7 Scanner worked as in XP but I cant see it’s driver in Device Manager! However, “ScanWizard 5” is listed in Uninstall or Change Programmes.

I managed to install & use "microtek 3800 scanmaker" on Windows 7.
It appears that you can make it work if you use windows vista drivers.
You can find those drivers on internet or you can download it directly from attachment to this post.
    (file: microtek_vista-2016-02-20.zip)

When you plug scanner to your PC, windows will install driver automatically in Control Panel/Device Manager in "unknown devices" category. Double-click on scanner icon and update the driver.
Now browse your computer and find the vista drivers that you downloaded from my google drive.
Windows 7 should install properly the driver after that.

You also need "scanwizard 5" software to use the scanner. You can download it for example here:
Download Microtek ScanWizard 5 by Micortek
