    Usb failure???

I recently Purchased this device from Ebay, ( Easycap Video Grabber Capture ) It looked as though it would perform the tasks I required it for like turning my laptop into a video recorder so I could record a program from TV and watch it at work later!

Anyway It installed Fine on my desktop pc on Vista home premium, But I plug it into my USB port on my laptop and nothing happens! The laptop doesn't recognise that anything was plugged into the port, Yet the port responds for everything else! so I swapped ports and still nothing! The differences are my Home computer is 32 bit and my laptop 64 bit, My home computer is on Vista and my laptop is on 7.

I have read reports on things like device not recognised popping up but i don't get any of that, Even if I install the drivers before inserting the hardware it still doesn't work!

Running out of things to try... Can always record on my desktop and transfer the file but that defeats the object!

    Any advice is appreciated

I'm not sure what to do either, here's a bunch of suggestions in no particular order:

    1) When you have the device plugged in, check the device manager, you may see an unidentified hardware item appearing there. Try to get that installed, OR removed entirely to give it a fresh try.

    2) Check the documentation of the hardware to see if it supports Windows 7 64 bit, I see here a thread with a bunch of people having problems on Vista 64 bit with the Easycap Video Grabber Capture: Problems with USB Video Capture EasyCAP-DC60 - Tech Support Guy Forums

    3) Download the latest drivers of Easycap Video Grabber Capture from the website, perhaps that'll help.

    4) You can also try to connect the Easycap Video Grabber Capture via Firewire instead of USB.

    5) Alternatively, make sure your laptop has all the windows patches (make a backup with System Restore first, just in case one of the patches crashes your system....)

Maybe someone else has some other/better suggestions? ^^

Laptop could be under-powering it, vs the desktop powering whatever it needs. Especially if it is only a USB1.1 port.

It is also possible it won't work with a 64bit system, you'd have to check what is supported.

    Still no joy

Contacting the seller seems kinda dumb as it was an ebay sale and the paperwork with the device says win 7 compatible! Maybe it could be a 64 bit problem but i know the device works on 64 bit Vista... The problem is that windows 7 acts like nothing is plugged into the port... like there is no device present!
What i am starting to wonder is if the device is a Chinese copy as mine came with EZ grabber software where i have seen others say theirs came with ULead, and it came from China.
    This is frustrating!
