motherboard advise

hey guys ,
just seeking some advise on a new motherboard what ive been looking at .
Ive been looking for an amd2+ one
to go along with a
phenom2 965 125 watt
and
Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 Memory Kit CL5 1.8v

and this is the board ive been looking at

im going with this am2+ so i can crossfire another 5770 for the same price as going am3

The Technical Specs for the 1st mobo show it works with ddr2 running at 667 and 800 so it is more than likely your Corsair will work on that mobo.

whens that from post from?
couldnt a bios update fix something like this

You missed where I said that warning was more of a CYA kind of statement than anything. Another thing from that thread is that most of the ram on the QVL for that motherboard is double sided (and shown to be OK in 2 or 4 slots).

Those memory QVL lists are good as a base guideline only, there are just too many different makes and models of ram for them to test them all. They can also at times be looked at as a marketing gimmick from the memory manufacturers, as I'll bet if you really looked into the tested ram most of it is from the memory manufacturers higher priced models.

For the most part unless the ram runs at a voltage that isn't supported by the motherboard (either higher or lower than the boards maximum and minimum), then pretty much anything should work.

Very sadly, DFI is ending their LanParty line of motherboards. I used to love their stuff... mad clockers... and the fact they had an office about 40 min. from here in Hayward, but, as much as I loved their boards, since they've closed up shop and moved to Taiwan to focus on other things, I would not recommend a DFI... especially if you're unfamiliar with their bios. They give more options than any other board, and to get them to run really sweat usually requires a lot of tweaking.
