Connect Sony DSLR-A350 camera to Win 7 x64 Hi,
I'm trying to connect my Sony Alpha 350 to WIndows via USB. The camera says initialising USB connection.
I had a look on Microsoft site, it says not compatible.
I had a look at the sony site, it says it is compatible and the drivers are included in the operating system.
It looks like Sony are wrong and Microsoft are right for a change, coz the camera just wont talk to the computer.
Has anyone been able to get it to work? | My System Specs |

I have the same camera and I got it to work automatically with my pc.
Not sure why yours isn't working... My camera came with software disc, have you tried that? Otherwise, if you can't, perhaps you need to contact Sony or.... find a memory card reader which supports compact flash (which I do since I lost my cable).
I'll do more research for you? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number ATX Custom Build 2012 OS Windows 7 Enterprise x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i3-2100 @ 3.10GHz Motherboard Intel DH67CL desktop ATX Memory 10 GB DDR3 Graphics Card Asus EAH5450 series (Radeon) Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster 226BW, Samsung Syncmaster P2450H Screen Resolution 226BW: 1680 x 1050 & P2450H: 1920 x 1080 Keyboard HP Wireless Elite Keyboard Wireless Keyboard Mouse Microsoft Touch PSU Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 500W Case Thermaltake V3 Black Edition Cooling stock cooling with added intake fan Hard Drives Western Digital 320 GB sata (boot), Samsung 640 GB sata, Seagate 2 TB sata (data) Internet Speed Comcast Cable business class <=18Mb {averages 12Mb} Other Info Optical drives: LG SuperMulti Blue, HP DVD 1260T

Thanks for your reply. The Sony site was my first stop before I posted here. The Sony solution I read said that the drivers are part of the operating system and that nothing else was needed. Then it said that the camera will only work if the OS is loaded at the factory.
I opened a support ticket with Sony 3 weeks ago, but they still have not replied.
These are direct quotes from the Sony site from the link you provided in your reply. Since the camera is not recognised by the O/S, the download manager does nothing, coz it can't find a camera. Quote: A compatible Sony camera or camcorder must be connected to the computer, and powered on, in order to use the Picture Motion Browser Download Tool.
This tool is intended for use with a factory preinstalled version of Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista®, or Windows 7 operating system.

That's up to you.
So, you just plugged it in and it worked? Windows 7 Ultimate x64?
Yes, I tried the disk. Could not find any cameras.
There are no drivers available on the Sony site, or other driver sites that I can find. There is the Picture Motion Browser, but that doesn't do anything.
I have a card reader in my PC in another PC the Lounge room. Bit it a hassle, since the text is not real clear on my Plasma TV.. Don't know if it will read the card.. we'll see.
Dont know why I didn't heck this before.. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/com...re&s=DSLR-A350
Grrr.. $2000 on a new camera in April 2009 and By October 2009 (Win 7 realease), it was obsolete

Perhaps the reason it works for me is that the windows 7 x64 load was an upgrade of the existing os: vista x64. vista drivers may be the key. i wonder if we can find a vista os disc to try? if i had my data cable, then i would see if i have the same problem on a clean install 7 x64 pc - which i have several of. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number ATX Custom Build 2012 OS Windows 7 Enterprise x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i3-2100 @ 3.10GHz Motherboard Intel DH67CL desktop ATX Memory 10 GB DDR3 Graphics Card Asus EAH5450 series (Radeon) Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster 226BW, Samsung Syncmaster P2450H Screen Resolution 226BW: 1680 x 1050 & P2450H: 1920 x 1080 Keyboard HP Wireless Elite Keyboard Wireless Keyboard Mouse Microsoft Touch PSU Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 500W Case Thermaltake V3 Black Edition Cooling stock cooling with added intake fan Hard Drives Western Digital 320 GB sata (boot), Samsung 640 GB sata, Seagate 2 TB sata (data) Internet Speed Comcast Cable business class <=18Mb {averages 12Mb} Other Info Optical drives: LG SuperMulti Blue, HP DVD 1260T

old thread...
this camera works with 7 x64.
i connected mine ia usb, turned the camera on and the computer found it and installed drivers. basically, the camera served as a memory card reader. http://sites.google.com/site/bluespr...attredirects=0 | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number ATX Custom Build 2012 OS Windows 7 Enterprise x64 SP1 CPU Intel Core i3-2100 @ 3.10GHz Motherboard Intel DH67CL desktop ATX Memory 10 GB DDR3 Graphics Card Asus EAH5450 series (Radeon) Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster 226BW, Samsung Syncmaster P2450H Screen Resolution 226BW: 1680 x 1050 & P2450H: 1920 x 1080 Keyboard HP Wireless Elite Keyboard Wireless Keyboard Mouse Microsoft Touch PSU Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 500W Case Thermaltake V3 Black Edition Cooling stock cooling with added intake fan Hard Drives Western Digital 320 GB sata (boot), Samsung 640 GB sata, Seagate 2 TB sata (data) Internet Speed Comcast Cable business class <=18Mb {averages 12Mb} Other Info Optical drives: LG SuperMulti Blue, HP DVD 1260T

Not with mine it wont. Wont recognise it at all. Tried various combinations of settings. According to Sony it only works on systems shipped with drivers preinstalled, and according to Microsoft it wont work at all.
Either way, I ended up having to take the memory card out and buy a card reader.
I contacted Sony and they never even had the courtesy to get back to me, despite a couple of follow ups. | My System Specs | | Connect Sony DSLR-A350 camera to Win 7 x64 problems? All times are GMT -5. The time now is 02:42 AM. | |
