External HDD interface died, can't access Drive? I had a Maxtor 500Gb External from a couple years ago.
the other day it quit responding and I realized the interface died,
So I put the drive (500Gb Seagate Barracuda SATAII) in another enclosure, the drive reads just fine. I installed the drive in the computer and I can't access the drive..??
It's not in the BIOS, (The SATA port is enabled) It's not in devices, Computer, Or Computer Management Either. It's the same in safe mode also... ides? | My System Specs |

The first thing I would try is testing it in another machine. That will help us diagnose whether it is a hard drive or computer issue.
I will begin researching the drive in the mean time, to see if I can see any other possibilities. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Professional x64 CPU Intel i7 2600K OC'd @ 4620 MHz Motherboard Asus P8Z68-V Pro Memory 16GB GSkill Sniper 2133 Mhz (4x4GB) Graphics Card EVGA GeForce GTX 480 SuperClocked+ Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays 2x Acer S273HLbmii 27" Screen Resolution 2 x 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech MK320 (wireless) Mouse Logitech MK320 (wireless) PSU Corsair HW Series 750w (modular) Case Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced Blue Edition Cooling CM Hyper 212+ CPU cooler, 3x 230mm + 1x 140mm case fans Hard Drives 64GB Crucial M4 SSD

I forgot to mention that i checked the jumper, (non-existent) and I thought (from previous experience) that when the limiter jumper is in place on a SATAII drive and port, it's backed into 1.5Gb Operation.. (?)
Thanks for the help, I'm still digging too...
Also, Check my system specs, this is the machine I'm having this problem with.

Try testing it in another machine. I'm afraid that's all I can think of for now. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Professional x64 CPU Intel i7 2600K OC'd @ 4620 MHz Motherboard Asus P8Z68-V Pro Memory 16GB GSkill Sniper 2133 Mhz (4x4GB) Graphics Card EVGA GeForce GTX 480 SuperClocked+ Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays 2x Acer S273HLbmii 27" Screen Resolution 2 x 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech MK320 (wireless) Mouse Logitech MK320 (wireless) PSU Corsair HW Series 750w (modular) Case Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced Blue Edition Cooling CM Hyper 212+ CPU cooler, 3x 230mm + 1x 140mm case fans Hard Drives 64GB Crucial M4 SSD

SOLVED!:
So I pulled the drive and checked connections, and I worked perfectly!
After putting my system back and screwing it back together, Back to no drive.
I then figured it HAD to be a connection problem somewhere, So I swapped the SATA cable with a new one.
That was it! Apparently I had a SATA cable with a bad connection...
Thanks everyone for your help, Sorry it was something simple I overlooked...
