Which thermal paste to apply to CPU?

    Hey all,

I'm wanting to clean out all my internal fans. My system is a Dell Dimension 9200.
To clean out all the fans I have to remove the heatsink to get to them (well done Dell!).

I'm going to re-apply some new thermal paste to the CPU. Just wondering if anyone had any advice on which to buy? I keep seeing the name "Arctic Silver" suggested as a good one.

    :)

    +1 Artic Silver 5

There are newer products but this one has always served me well.

This is the best review and application guide for different style coolers I have found.> Best Thermal Paste Application Methods | best application methods, thermal paste,TIM,thermal compound, thermal interface material, best practices,Best Practices for Thermal Interface Material Paste Application Methods and Thermal Grease Patterns

If square base small amount then spread it thin. This shows applying to cooler.
    I prefer applying to CPU.

    Sorry about that Solarstarshines,

I posted it in the wrong thread. I was replying to two at the same time!
