Could you clarify your question a bit for me? I can see that you're having a problem with NVIDIA recognizing a DVI monitor as VGA but beyond that I can't understand what you wrote. Also, please confirm that particular monitor can be connected via DVI and work properly. You can do this through another computer if you have access to one.

Regardless of what you meant to say, most NVIDIA Control Panel issues will be solved by uninstalling the NVIDIA drivers and then reinstalling the most recent set of drivers from http://www.nvidia.com

dvi is connected properly it worked already yesterday before waking up.I mean the nvidia display panel sees the second monitor(problem one and the windows one is seeing the monitor as working and there as a second monitor too,the only weird thing I found is the second monitor is hooked in as dvi but the nvidia control panel shows it is connecting as a vga it it never was

Again, a bit hard to decipher your text, but it sounds like one of two monitors isn't working even though it's detected in both NVIDIA and Windows.

    1) Test the broken monitor on a different computer

    2) Uninstall and then Reinstall your graphics drivers

I know this thread is old.

But I ahve this exact same problem with my Vista machine.

I have a GeForce 8500 gt with a vga port and a dvi port.

I have a monitor (Main -monitor 1) which I connect using vga
And a second monitor which I want to connect using dvi.

However I get "no signal" from my dvi monitor.

If I try to use my dvi monitor by itself as a single main monitor, I can see the bios screen, and the windows load bar, but when it gets to the windows login screen I get "no signal" again, and the screen reverts back to d-sub mode as opposed to DVi that it was previously on in the bios screen.

I've tried installing several different versions of the nvidia drivers. -all clean installs.

    I cannot find a solution anywhere :/
