    Unable to boot into OS


    I don't know why but everytime I boot up I see the following messages

    PAGE 1
    IDE Channel 0 Master : None
    IDE Channel 0 Slave : None
    SATA 1 (A0) : None
    SATA 2 (A1) : ST3500320AS SD15 (This is my 1st drive)
    SATA 3 (B0) : None
    SATA 4 (B1) : ST380811AS 3.AAE (This is my 2nd drive)
    Floppy disk(s) fail (40) (I have no floppy disks)
    Press F1 to continue, DEL to enter SETUP (My BIOS is set to default)

    PAGE 2
    Verifying DMI Pool Data...... (This message along with some information was shown)

    HISTORY
    1) I was using Windows 7 but had to reinstall windows
    2) Reset BIOS to default
    3) Tried to install Windows but noticed long pause between every setups
    4) I formatted both disks but it said "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition"
    5) I unplugged the drive I want to install Windows on
    6) I installed Windows 7 successfully without problem on my 2nd computer, using the drive I brought from my 1st computer
    7) I took the drive after installed Windows 7 on my 2nd computer and put it back to my 1st computer
    8) NOW I get this screen whenever I boot and am unable to get inside the Operation System

    *The above information was collected using Speccy before this problem occured

    *I couldn't change the floppy disk to none nor change the boot order as no options was seen in the BIOS

    Welcome to Seven Forums Microhard. Is your primary disc set as the boot device in BIOS? I would expect it to be set where you have SATA 1 (A0) : None. It sounds like your BIOS need to be told what the 1st boot device is.

    If it is set to boot from optical drive 1st, you can see if it will boot from the install disk as well. A Guy

    I went in there and found nothing special except when I try to boot from my CD-ROM, could there be something wrong with my hardware?

    Which HD did you install win7 on ? the large HD or the small HD ? Are they both SATA HD's ?


    I can't understand why you can't see change Boot order options in BIos, ????

    Did you install windows 7 in the SATA drive with additionally installing SATA drivers?? If not, you should disable SATA and enable IDE and load.

    I too have a SATA disk, but didnt install the SATA drivers when asked by Win 7. So, disabled SATA and enabled IDE and installed.

    After installation, I enabled SATA in BIOS and Win 7 doesnt want to boot. The same error message you see.

    All BIOS has the option of changing the boot disk priority, you should further drill down all options/menu's under your BIOS.

    DocBrown - I have installed Windows 7 on ST380811AS and both of the drives are SATA. I could change the boot order but the only choices are 1. Ch5 M. : ST380811AS 2. Ch3 M. : ST3500320AS 3. Bootable Add-in Cards

    Can you try plugging the ST380811AS SATA cable into SATA 1 (A0) on the motherboard ?

    Whichever drive you wish to instal 7 on really should be in Sata Port 0 or 1, as DocBrown is suggesting. (however your MOBO labels the first port)

    In advanced option there should be a setting for Hard Disk Boot priority. Where you can tell it which HD to boot 1st.
    Not to be confused with Boot Order, I/E 1.CD ROM ---> then 2. HD ((this will be the HD you choose as 1st boot priority in HD section))


    If you want AHCI, its a bit easier to install Win7 with it enabled on that machine.
    But, if you install in IDE, you can still switch via reg. hack.


    Seeing as you installed the OS on a differnt PC, you may need to do a repair install.

    Guys I made progress! I have successfully changed the order by manually relocating the disk

    IDE Channel 0 Master [ None]
    IDE Channel 0 Slave [ None]
    SATA 1 (A0) [ST380811AS]
    SATA 2 (A1) [ None]
    SATA 3 (B0) [ST3500320AS]
    SATA 4 (B1) [ None]

    Now I have this problem
