Solid light blue screen instead of desktop

New monitor & video card: Samsung 2433BW Plus & EVGA GTX 470. Sometimes from a cold boot the screen just goes a solid light blue colour with no cursor. I have to turn the machine off either via the PSU or holding the power button for about 4 seconds.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks :)

Open the computer up and remove the video card. Place it back in, then remove and replace, remove and replace.. do this like 4-5 times.

Sometimes with brand new cards (especially video cards), there can be some invisible.. stuff.. on the card that will cause problems. Inserting and removing the card multiple times is often the best fix.

See if this resolves your issue :)

Perhaps that may seat the card correctly if it isn't at present as well as removing the invisible layer of ....? :)

Unfortunately I can't really try this at the moment as the GPU & CPU are wearing water blocks.

The card's seating may in fact be the issue, I noticed that it was very difficult to insert evenly. At first I put this down to the fact that the PCI bracket has an angle on it which I haven't seen on any PCI bracket ever. Secondly, I had the internals of my case powder coated, this caused some warping & bending due to the heat. Also, the prongs on the end of the PCI bracket are meant to go into slots which are attached to the motherboard/PCI area. I figured that powder coating would have thickened the surface area of these slots & therefore made the opening smaller.

Once again, I wouldn't be able to fully investigate unless I drained the loop & took everything apart.

After wrestling & finally finishing my first water cooled build, I'm just not prepared to do that right now. LoL

I just thought there may have been some driver issue with nvidia at the moment or some hardware problem with these specific Samsung models that I wasn't aware of. Especially because the monitor has a USB hub in it's stand.

Ta for the reply & suggestion. :)

    Cheers

Well I think from some more info I gathered this might be an IRQ issue.. not sure but think the solution might be to disbale Nvidia HD Audio devices
