    Need Internet!?

    Hello!
    I have a HP PAvilion P 6550,without a network card.
Today,I buyed a (usb-likely thing) N Ultra Rangeplus - Wireless-N USB Network Adapter with Dual Band (omg what a name).
So I put the cd in the cd drive, tryed to install (followed the steps given by the folder) and everything goes fine.
Then It asks me to put the USB stick in the USB-Port.
When I do that, it says : Adapter detected, please wait while the installation process is completed.
    I wait...........
And after a while, it says : Error 211: The network adapter is not installed properly
    Follow these steps :

    1) Remove the adapter, wait for 20 seconds, and then re-insert it.
    2) Make sure the adapter is inserted firmly and compltely into the correct slot.
    3) Ignore any message balloons that may pop up,click "continue anyway" or "yes" if prompted.
    4) Remove your adapter CD from your computer.
    5) Reboot you computer, and then reïnsert the adapter CD.
    6) Run lynksis Setup Wizard again.

I did all these steps, now the fith time, but it keeps giving the error.

    I'm running windows 7

Thank you if you can help me,and sorry for my bad english.

When it says "please wait while the installation process is completed", make sure there isn't a window on the install disc program waiting for you to hit continue. If there is, click it.

Also try installing the adapter without the cd. Windows should automatically find drivers for it. Linksys software can act buggy.

    Try rebooting with stick installed.
Windows should find this and install it.

This may not be relevant, but I'd be surprised if your PC didn't have an RJ45 (Ethernet) port, with a NIC built in to the mainboard. Discrete NICs are getting to be rarely seen. The P6550z has an integrated gigabit NIC, but I'm not sure that it's your exact model.

As regards your USB wireless adapter, perhaps you should seek support at its maker, Linksys (Cisco). Is the driver CD new enough to include Win7 support? If not, there may be drivers available for download. (I checked, but the name that you provided doesn't seem to be an actual model name.)

    Good luck.

Thank you for the tip, but "lynksis software can act buggy"
Do you mean that I don't had to buy that Card?
    And no,It doesn't work.
I removed the CD , and put the USB back in the port, but it does nothing.

    Thank you for your post,
    But I HAVE a HP Pavilion P 6550,
and it doesn't have a internet card
It does have a internet PORT,but doesn't have a internet card integrated.
I don't think the driver cd is new enough,It's from 2009.
    What can I do then?
    Thanks!

    I just wonder if the unit is faulty. I went onto the manufacturers site and found this unit which would appear to be perfect forthe intended use. There is a "Contact us for support" link on this site which might be worth a try;
    Here's the link:
