I have an old Sony Vaio PCG-NV170 that I want to install Windows 7 on. I recently upgraded the RAM to 512MB (to make it possible to install 7) and have been successful at putting 7 on a few old laptops. I had a question about a possible driver
issue. The laptop in question uses an alps touchpad with the hardware ID sny9001. When I ran the Windows 7 Compatibility program, it showed that there were "known issues" with the driver. Now my question is if anyone knows if the touchpad will work. I'm worried that it might be unresponsive and I currently don't have a USB mouse with me, so I want to make sure. Because of that I won't be able to download a driver after installation if it doesn't work.
