    Microsoft Habu mouse

Hi all! First post to ask for help :)

My problem is with this Microsoft Habu Laser mouse. Almost every time I RESTART my computer and get to the desktop my mouse does not respond even the "restart button" at the bottom of the mouse does not help, all I can do is unplug the mouse and plug it back in and it works. This happens also sometimes when computer has been powered down for a while, not always but sometimes.

I even changed this mouse to new one when it had warranty left, but now it's over and not an option anymore.

It does not make a change if I install the Habu drivers and software from the CD or Microsoft's web page.

Is the problem in the mouse or is it some kind of a problem with my computer?

    Thank you in advance !

Have you let the computer sit for a few minutes before unplugging? It might just be taking the computer a minute to read the mouse.

No and yes, usually when I power up my PC in morning and if this happens I am away from the computer 5-15 minutes. I think that should be enough.

PS. I just tried hibernating and after put the computer back on it said that "Device is malfunctioning, and Windows does not recognize it" after I unplugged the mouse the error message went away.

Is the mouse plugged into USB? If so, It might be worth it to try different USB port.

Yes it is. I have tried different USB ports, but I can try that again, tomorrow.

I just tried different USB ports and still every time I restart the mouse doesn't work. Unplugging and plugging it back and the mouse works well.

Thanks for all who tried to help :)

Got it fixed, after spending few hours of Googling I found a trick that fixed it:

    1. Uninstall the Habu software
    2. Install the Copperhead software (the mouse will not be detected)
    3. Download latest firmware for the Habu
    4. Flash it with the Habu firmware, like you would do with a copperhead (unplug, press and hold profile switch button replug), just follow the instructions
    5. Replug the mouse and the Habu should now be recognized properly.
    Link

Now, who would have thought that for optimal use of mouse, you need to something like this.
