Camera not detected by Windows 7

We have three new Windows 7 computers in the house. The 2 desktops will not detect my sons camera, but the laptop will.

What can I do to get the desktops to detect the camera as well?

What about using a memory card reader instead of plugging the camera in?

I did a clean install on the MD 9933 to Windows 7. The photos are on the internal memory not a card I believe but will check. Memory card readers are something I've never used.
