    WLAN Adapter Question.

I found out today why my new PC won't go onto the internet.

It is a Acer 23in AS X1301 Desktop PC.

I think it has no wireless adapter.

I am going to get one.

    Hopefully it fixes it.

But I want to know if when you use them it is like normal wireless.

    As in free.

Or do they charge you per minute of use.

My current computer has a PCI wireless card and that is free.

We have a wireless network. It is a Belkin Router.

Do I need to buy a Belkin WLAN Adapter to go with the router?

Or can I get any WLAN Adapter?

They look like they work like the PCI card.

Am I confusing mobile broadband with WLAN Wireless Adapters.

    Please help me.

Any WLAN adapter will work...if you're using a Belkin device though a good rule of thumb is to buy the corresponding Belkin adapter.

Yes, you are confusing mobile broadband with WLAN adapters - wireless networking will always be free! (Minus the hardware costs, obviously)

but the USB one is pretty cheap and in my experiance they tend to be pretty poor too

they are VERY easy to install and use , all you need is your wireless key and windows will do the rest

    Thank you very much.

I think having a card WLAN Adapter would be better but there is no slot so it will have to be a USB.

Thank for the help and links.

I will get the Belkin one I saw or another that looks good I think.
