How to turn off tablet PC and click ring?

    Hello,

I've only recently bought a computer with Windows 7, so I'm new to it. I installed my Intuos4 graphics tablet on it, and whenever I use the pen (I often use it for navigating my computer as opposed to the mouse) a little handwriting box for writing notes pops up -- I think it's called the Input Panel -- and upon clicking with the pen there's a "click ring." This is incredibly annoying.

How do I turn off ALL tablet PC settings, including the notes/handwriting box, click ring, and everything else so I can use my tablet without hassle?

    Thanks!

Welcome to Seven Forums kalter. Sorry, I overlooked your post last night. You can turn off tablet functions by turning the feature off. See Brink's tute below. Scroll down and you will see Tablet PC Components.

As a side note be aware that turning off the tablet stuff also turns off/disbles the snip tool. So if you use the snip tool and wonder where it went... pen & tablet has something to do with that.

    Just FYI :)

Thanks, I turned off Tablet PC by following those directions and it took care of some of the problem.

However, the click ring still persists. Anyone know how to get rid of it? I'm desperate.

I searched it myself, and this shows what "click ring" I mean when I use my tablet pen, but the instructions to turn it off my computer doesn't want to follow: Configuring Windows 7 and your Pressure-Sensitive tablet to avoid cursor “ring” animations (a.k.a “Dynamic feedback”) - Saveen Reddy's blog - Site Home - MSDN Blogs

Hello kalter, do you have Home Premium? There is no gpedit in Home Premium, which you have discovered if you tried on it. These people had some ideas, maybe something to help you.

    Yes, I have Home Premium.

Just tried nearly all of the advice in that thread, including stopping the "Tablet PC Input Service" but the splashes/click rings still happen. And I don't want to mess with my registry, nor do I know how to. So I'm still looking for a solution.

    What a horrible feature.

In Win7, the snipping tool is not related to Tablet PC - only in Vista it is.
