If it is saying that it is a firmware issue then find out who manufactures you drive then go to their website and see if you can download the firmware for the drive.
This will tell you exactly the drive you have:
Speccy - Download
If you type the name of your optical drive into a google providing you have the google toolbar it will automatically come up the the name of your drive and add firmware at the end as well beforeyou have finished typing.
If you dont have the toolbar then just add firmware at the end, and it should take you to straight to your optical drive, and there should be an option for firmware.
Typed it into google and got loads of results but most of them related to slightly different drivers. I've tried the Acer website but couldn't find any firmware updates. I think the problem actually started quite soon after I updated from windows vista to windows 7 so im not sure if thats got anything to do with it :S
You aren't looking for a driver you are looking for the firmware which may be different. If you type the full name of the device the firmware it should take you to the drives manufacturer.
But if it only happened since you upgraded your OS then it may be that the driver wont support windows 7.
type the name of the optical drive that is displayed in speccy and I will see if I canfind it
This is what is on Speccy for the drive:

I think your drive is an LG drive this is the Firmware for the drive:
