Windows 7: Hard Drive - why is 2 TB only 1.8 TB ??

But Derek he claims he can fill a 500 GB drive (465 GB drive in windows) and add more data to it in Linux.

I find that impossible.

A full drive is a full drive, yes ?

Yeah, I read that, I don't see any proof though.

Ah... Well i for one find it stupid that the two use different prefix systems. Can really cause mayhem for some people especially when they find out that on a windows pc they only have 465 when it was marketed as 500 but it makes sense now. Found this out at this site here Also i took a look at my linux machine, and when i first plugged the drive in to reprove this theory it took a few hours to be able to access it so i then said to myself.... i wonder.... and plugged it into my windows machine again and it showed a significant decrease in the size of the data that i had originally wrote onto it. After further investigation i found that the linux machine did indeed compress the files on it and i guess it was just a coinsidence that it happened to be around 45GB. Sorry for the confusion. - For the Same File, Why Windows and Ubuntu Show Different Sizes ?
