I got my desktop with XP and Ubuntu down, and wiped off the whole HDD to install W7. Then I installed Ubuntu back and when I start my PC, I get the Ubuntu bootloader. Is there any way to reclaim my W7 bootloader? (The only thing I don't like about Ubuntu is the bootloader)
I don't believe you will still be able to boot ubuntu if you do,

I would suggest that you start by installing EasyBCD. You can use it to reinstall the Windows 7 MBR. But then you will have to boot the Ubuntu CD and chroot to your Ubuntu installation. From there you can run grub to put the Ubuntu loader on Ubuntu's own partition:
Then you can use EasyBCD to put an entry in Windows' bootloader to boot Ubuntu.Code:grub-install -f /dev/sda2 update-grub
If that doesn't make sense to you, you might be better off just reinstalling Ubuntu - in the step where you set up the partitioning is an option to install the grub loader on the Ubuntu partition vs. the MBR.
You can dual boot and use the NTBootloader to boot the Linux partition. You will have to reinstall your system and instead choose to put the grub bootloader into the first sector of the hard drive partition and then export the information to a file and call it by NTLoader. I used to use this method until I got more comfortable with using Grub...so I know it works.

Just my humble opinion about dual booting ubuntu with windows 7 and people complaining about not "liking" grub bootloader and wanting their windows bootloader back,when installing ubuntu and choosing manual partition at the bottom of installation window is "clearly" defined where you want to install your bootloader.I don't understand why people cant simply choose the partition where they are installing ubuntu and "choose" that partition to install their grub like i do.This way windows bootloader will be in control and next step is to install EasyBCD and add linux as second OS.
Or simply people install ubuntu without reading thoroughly the excellent online manual about dual booting ubuntu and windows 7.
