Going from xp32 to 7 64, is this ultimately impossible?

downloaded 64 bit rc 3 separate times, burned 3 separate copies at 4x speed.

Booted with the dvd, and the installation gets hung up trying to find drivers for the dvd.

"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.
Note: If the Windows installation media s in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."

I have a liteon lh-18a1p, going on their website, there arent drivers but an .exe flash.

My computer is more than fast enough to handle 64 bit

    4gb kingson dd2 1066

    any thoughts?

    Hi breakfasteatre and welcome,

You cannot go from 32 bit to 64 bit if you're trying to upgrade. You would have to do a clean-install

I found out what i was doing wrong, my dvd rom was jumpered as slave, changed it to master, and the installation went smooth. Running on 7 right now as a matter of fact.

so, for future reference, make sure the dvd rom is running as master
