BSOD during clean install

I did a search but could not find a post about this exact error

I'm trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium (full) on a Dell Dimension 9200 desktop that currently has no OS (it had XP but a file in system32 is corrupt and it won't run). The setup goes normally, but about a minute after it reboots at the "completing installation" stage, my computer stops making noise and it seems to idle at this screen for about five minutes, then I get a blue screen for about a half of a second (not long enough to even see what the error is) then my computer reboots again. After this, it shows the windows 7 load screen, then I just get a black screen that lasts as long as I leave my computer on.

My computer's specs are:
Core 2 Duo 2.13 ghz processor
2 x 2 GB DDR2 667 mhz RAM
BFG Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX+ OC

I've tried disconnecting all unnecessary hardware, as well as deleting my old partition and creating a new one and formatting it.

Hello TC90, welcome to Seven Forums!

To start sorting the hardware, download and burn to CD (better on CD) Memtest86 then boot from the disk and let it run at least 2 full passes, as a start, to check the RAM, then we can go on from there; have a look at the link below and be sure to post back with the outcome.
Also in advanced boot options select the "Disable Auto Restart ... " option so maybe you can get the error text when next it BSODs.

I can't even get to advanced boot options... I press f8 and nothing happens, I just get to the windows error recovery screen (which I get to even without pressing f8)

As for memtest86, I'm going to try that tonight when I get home, but I already did a windows memory diagnostics test and let it do 6 full passes and I didn't get any errors

Also Check your HD.
1) Boot DVD, & Press Shift+F10 (for command prompt)
2) Boot DVD, & Command Prompt at Startup (for command prompt)
Open an command prompt.
In the command prompt, type chkdsk C: f/x/r/v and press Enter.

Check Disk - chkdsk - Vista Forums

Check the hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic tools.

I suspect your keyboard is disconnected if F8 doesn't bring up anything that is... or that indicates Windows aint installed properly if no BOOT menu can be had.

As something else to try, I'd burn a flavor of Linux that can be fully run off the CD, and see if that will run on this PC in question, if it doesn't, you have a major hardware failure, atm I'd be swapping out it's HD and trying install on another.
