[Urgent] PC restarts after booting from DVD

I googled the code 1 error and didn't find anything I think will help. I myself have had a cannot boot from CD - code 5 error when trying to install windows 7 on one of my older PC's. As far as I could tell it was because my older BIOS couldn't handle the windows 7 boot loader on the DVD. I got around it by first installing XP, booting into XP, and running a custom install from there. It wasn't pretty but it worked and all I had to do afterward was delete the windows.old directory. Oh, and before anybody suggests it, I did try installing from a thumbdrive, it didn't work either. It would hang at a black screen with a flashing cursor.

Check the HASH against official Win7 HASH.

It's the official DVD, I'm sure. Cats just screwed it up a bit.

I don't even know what kind of motherboard I have, tried multiple times looking on the motherboard itself, nothing there.... except some codes that lead to porno actually... And I'm pretty sure that the porn didn't update my motherboard version.

When you say you "just copied another DVD" is this a copy of Win7 that is known to have booted and installed before?

Yes, and it's Windows 7 DVD but this time burned it with ImgBurn, tested on a laptop before I inserted in the PC.

Try wiping the HD using free Partition Wizard bootable CD (which will autostart) to see if there is corruption blocking installer autostart: Free Download Magic Partition Manager Software – Partition Wizard Online

No need, I got opensource software that does the same trick only better. Oh and there's like 500 gigs of important date on the other partitions.

The PC is about 8 years old I think, altough it's tweaked. Got 16 gig internal memory, new duo core processor, twice a new video card, new sound card. Just the motherboard that hasn't been replaced... But to find a matching motherboard is like finding a slightly greener needle in a green needle-stack.

May I ask what software you have that works better than Partition Wizard bootable CD, which also wipes individual partitions if you have data on HD you have not backed up (very risky at this point)?

You want to apply at least one set of zeroes to overwrite any code which is interfering, particularly if you had GRUB which will often interfere even from another partition.

You'll need to pursue the BIOS update or clear the CMOS, and test SATA controller settings.

Test your RAM with memtest86 CD for 5-6 passes, remove all but 2gb for install, swap RAM.

CMOS: That could really be the problem, every time I start up the PC it says the CMOS Cheksum is bad. Tried to load system default, but that doesn't work. The battery has been melted in the metal somehow, and the other method I haven't tried.

Atm I'm using Ubuntu 10.4, I used Gparted to whipe the systemfile partition (as said earlier on btw)

I don't think my HD is the root of the problem... I've installed Ubuntu without a problem, installed XP before on it, just not Seven.

2 gb of what? Internal memory? USB-memory?

I bought the PC from an old peron who won in at a bingo compitition or something for a buck or 2, no cd's were included.
