Installation problem. No video on first boot. Help!

I'm attempting to install a fresh copy of 7 ultimate 64 bit. I'm able to get through the initial installation steps (copying files and expanding files) however on the first boot my screen flickers and is sent to a black screen displaying "Mode Not Supported". Typically if there is just no signal the screen will display "No Signal Detected" so I'm wonderingn if this is a resolution/refresh issue.

I tried booting into safe mode and a 7 screen comes up telling me that "Setup cannot continue in safe mode" or something like that and then "Setup will continue after restart" and then reboots into normal mode and again I get the "Mode Not Supported" message on my display. Any ideas?

    My system is as follows:
    - AMD 6400+ with 6 gigs ram
    - Two WD hd's (250 gigs/500 gigs)
    - Onboard Realtek audio
    - MSI K9N2SLI Platinum motherboard

    Video stuff:
    - Dual 8800 GTS's in an SLI configuration
    - Samsung 37" 1080p LCD HDTV model: LN37A330J1D as display
    - I'm using the component video output from the video card via the supplied adapter and a 6 foot length of good quality component video cable.

Do you need any other info?

    Thanks in advance

Do you have a monitor you can use for the installation attached to one video card's VGA port?

Even better, can you default to onboard video via VGA port for install, uninstalling cards if necessary until after install?

You may need to install the video hardware after install as it can flummox the installation when drivers fail to load and outputs are confused.

Yeah i have an old 15" and I'll try the on-board video. My video cards just have dual DVI ports and I have since lost my adapters due to moving recently.

I hated Vista and I've heard that 7 is a huge improvement but I'm skeptical with this setback. I can install every other release no problem on my graphics set up. I dunno, I miss 98 and 2000...

Thanks for the tips though, I'll try that in the morning.

You miss '98 and 2000?? those ancient operating systems? (no pun intended) :)
I really hope you like Windows 7, and figure out any outstanding issues that you may be experiencing at the current moment.

If you need any further help, I'll be here ok:)

If I may be able to suggest to you x047x, if possible, can you use a VGA cable (DVI cable is better), insert the VGA (or DVI) cable into the first 8800GTS GPU left side via a DVI to VGA adapter (if required), and connect that to your Samsung 37" 1080p LCD HDTV, until you have completely installed Windows 7.
    Hope that helps:)

Yeah I really miss 2000. It was the most stable OS I've run short of Linux. With that said, I like the aesthetic improvements of the newer releases (no no, I dont choose OS's based on their GUI alone, but hey...). I'm very interested in getting 7 up and running and giving it an honest chance and I think I'll be able to figure it out eventually.

I ordered a DVI<-->HDMI cable to use, but for the short term I'll try the onboard video.

Thanks for the tips everyone, I'm really not this bitter ha.

I had to come back to this thread, and thank you gregrocker.
I'm so happy to be back
I'm just a little rusty, but over time I'll fine tune my skills eventually.

As for the OP hope he has success with this issue, I'm sure everything will work out.
