Windows 7: Error loading operating system for Windows 7

Error loading operating system for Windows 7

Right,
I've had a problem with a rootkit virus that i have now gotten rid of after much faffing about.
I had to mess about getting rid of the virus but it left residual files that were causing me even more problems.
One of those files, veawi.sys, refused to go away as everytime i tried to delete it i would get a message stating that "a device attached to the system is not working" or something along that line.

Anyway, i tried to get rid of it by installing Windows XP to a USB hard drive that i have lying around so that i could use the command prompt to delete the file from the windows\system32\drivers directory.
That didn't work as i would get the message "NTLDR is missing" and my Windows 7 installation wouldn't boot either as i'd get the message "Error loading operating system".
To add insult to injury i found, after using the installion disc for Windows 7, that i could have just used the command prompt in the repair section of the disc which allowed me to get rid of the culprit file.

I've tried running the startup repair from the Windows 7 disc and it states that there are no errors found.
For the first time in ages i'm stuck and i get the feeling that i'm going to have to reinstall Windows 7 all over again.

Does anyone have any advice that will help as i really don't want to reinstall windows again.

Hi,

Having looked into the repair install guide in your post, it states that it must be done within windows 7 itself.
That's the problem. I can't get into windows at all. It just sits there after the post boot and gives me the message in my last post.

Just to add, i just tried a startup repair again and came up with a message saying that it couldn't repair the problem.
Having looked at the information tab it stated CorruptBootSectorCode, or words to that effect.

Boot from your install DVD and select the repair option...

Done that.

In the Diagnosis and Repair details it states:

Root causes found:
-----------------------
Boot sector code for system disk partition is corrupt.

Repair action: Boot sector repair
Result: Failed. Error code = 0x139f
Time taken = o ms

I'm unsure what i should do now.

Thanks Tews,

I've just done that prior to reading your post.

I've got it all working now.
Thanks for your help again.

Just in case anyone else who needs the info.
