Windows 7 removal
i want to install another os - ubuntu but i installed it but wen i start up windows 7 appears next to ubuntu is there any way of completely removin win 7 and leaving ubuntu as the default os

If there's nothing on the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) that you would not want to lose, then have a look at the tutorial at the link below, this will mark the HDD as unallocated space and then over-write everything on the HDD and give you a clean slate to reinstall to.

In Ubuntu, you'll probably have to play around with Grub (assuming you don't want to access Windows 7 anymore). I think there are plenty of guides on the Ubuntu Linux Forums on how to do this. I suggest the QGrubEditor - How to edit GRUB Settings with GUI tool QGRUBEditor.
