Need help: Problem loading Windows 7 in hp dv2117tx laptop

Currently I'm using Windowa XP SP3.I want to install Windows 7 home premium.

I Burn the ISO but it didn't load during booting when i restart to start the setup.
I set the CD/DVD rom as a first boot option. It halts few seconds but then load XP as usual. Please tell me how to install it.

Xp media center was preinstalled on my laptop. My question is if i do a clean install of Windows 7 then is it possible to load XP again from my XP recovery DVD? I don't want to set a dual pertition as my HD is only 100 GB including current recovery partition.

What drivers i need to make ready after installation Windows 7? Please give me a list.

I'm new here and i'm not that expert user.So please help me.

    Thanks.

Hello preferity, welcome to Seven Forums!

One thing at a time, you may have got a bad burn on the DVD, Windows 7 will not fit on a CD, use the program at the link below to re-burn the ISO to a DVD at x4 speed, no higher to see if that'll solve that issue; just to make sure, did you save the changes and exit the BIOS correctly when you set the Optical Disk Drive (ODD) as first boot device?

Also if you do not change the HDD partitions and State of the HDD and Do not Overwrite the Recovery Partition then it is still Valid thought you will need the Licence key for Windows XP, Which is Usually found Underneath you Computer or on a Label somewere on your Computer Case

    Hope This Helps,

Make sure ImgBurn is set to verify the burn. That will let you know before you even try to install whether the disc is usable or not.

First of all lets sort out your License Key for this is not something that you can Wait for

See Activate Windows 7 Online For More Information and Follow Option 2

For the Battery Life you may want to change the Power options to Power Saver and go to Start and Right click Computer and Click Properties

Then Click advanced Properties in the Left hand Pane

Enter an Admin Password or Select Yes

Then Click Advanced tab and click settings for the Performance

    Now Click on the Section

Then Click apply and Okay Hopefully the Power should have Decreased

    Hope This Helps,
    Josh

Thanks guys for your help.I'm bit late to inform you that everything is working fine now.You guys rocks.:)

Black screen problem was mainly for lack of nvidia driver.I installed the driver and everything is fine now.

But i need to change my battery. .It's showing "consider replacing your battery."
I cross check it with HP battery health check up software and it is also showing the same that my battery has lost it's storage capability. So i think i've to change my battery.

I'm using 6 cell battery. What is the difference in backup time with 9 cell or higher cell battery?I want to know that those battery will be compatible with my laptop or not?

    Thank you.

Thanks.Today i notice two more problem.

    1. My webcam is not working.
    2. Quick launch button is not working.

I talked with Hp customer support. They told me they can't support me because they only support preinstalled OS.I think it is related to some driver issue.I tried to install the driver compatible for vista as no drivers were listed for my laptop model number. But those two driver are showing same error. Not compatible with this windows.I tried to installed it in compatible mode but same error.

My laptop is Hp Pavilion dv2000 series.
    Model number is dv2117tx

    Thank you.
