I see it was linked earlier but have you used this to wipe the Hard Disk Drive first, it over-writes everything on the entire HDD and gives you the best possible space to install Windows to?

Are you booting the Win7 DVD to try install? If so, try installer running from XP.

It cannot hibernate if run from boot. What makes you think it is hibernating? Is your monitor sleeping? Try another one.

If booting doesn't help, then remove all but 2gb of RAM to try install. Test your RAM using memtest86 CD for 5-6 passes. Swap RAM sticks.

Remove all USB devices and unplug all but target HD.

It says it won't run windows xp > 7 CD and it's still shutting off

The hard drive works fine with just XP though

Going to put vista on it and see how it goes from there

EDIT: I tried to make it go XP > Vista > 7 and it still had the same shutdown result

I also changed some settings in the BIOS and a error screen kept coming up instead of it shutting off

So far, XP and Vista have 0 problems on it, only windows 7 causes this

THere is no in-place Upgrade path from XP to Win7. If you're trying to run installer from XP because it still won't install after trying all of the steps given, then choose CUstom install to overwrite XP.

Are you trying install with only 2gb of RAM. If so, swap the sticks around to see if it works.

Have you tried another monitor? Doe the monitor go completely blank or is there a flashing cursor or other signal?

What changes did you make in BIOS and what exact error did they yield? Errors are progress because they can be googled to find solutions. Try resetting the CMOS again - you did it earlier, right? It is hard to help you when you don't reply to each step but skip over several. Are you doing them?

Not trying to skip over steps

Yes I am using 2GB of RAM only

Yes I have tried another monitor, same result

I changed a power setting in the bios so that it would not auto restart, instead of restarting a general error message would come up

Haven't reset CMOS but i'm doing that right now
