Can I install 7127 on 256 MB of RAM?

Im doing a computer restore for someone- using 7127.

Can I go ahead and install it on 256MB of RAM with a Celeron M 1.4GHz? They are getting 1 GB of RAM in the next 3 days.

Thanks!

You can try but I don't think it will work to well. The minimum is 1Gig but people have installed with 512MB and it runs OK.

A PC for testing with these system requirements:
    • 1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
    • 1 GB RAM (32-bit) / 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
    • 16 GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20 GB (64-bit)
    • DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
i would wait for the ram

I don't know the technical limit, but "no" would probably be the answer.

I have a spare computer at home that is running 7; 384MB (DDR 333MHz) RAM, Celeron 1.7GHz. It's not taking home the prize for most responsive system, but it does work a lot better than Vista on the same setup (it was an experiment I performed :P).

So it would be usable? And I could just throw the RAM in ASAP?

Usable, yes, but if you run more than a couple programs it will be doing a lot more hard disk paging than XP would (assuming that's the previous OS), in other words it would start to try your patience.
Just don't hold me liable if it's slower than you thought :P

eh, I REALLY doubt it could try your patience more than it does right now. About 15 minutes to boot, 20 before its usable. Only problem is it looks like you cant install without 512 MB without editing a setup dll.... guess Ill have to be patient :-)

For me, Build 7100 installed without taking issue to the 384MB of RAM, and it's only a few minutes from booting to usable (YMMV).
