Hello space4092, welcome to Seven Forums!
Where did the Windows 7 installer DVD come from, did you burn it yourself, this may be the cause of the issues; you may need to do another clean install to sort it? How to Do a Clean Installation with Windows 7
If so you may need to burn it again, use the free ImgBurn ISO burner at the link below at 4x speed with a verify to make sure it's not a bad burn on the DVD. If there is no data at all on the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) that you want to save, have a look at this tutorial at the link below to run a "clean all" on the HDD before install, this completely over-writes any/all previous data and gives you a clean slate to install Windows 7 to. I'd test the memory with memtest86 CD for 5-6 passes, then remove all but 2gb of RAM to try install.
Make sure you have the latest BIOS version update. If so, reset the CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS.URL
Set SATA controller in BIOS setup to AHCI first, then IDE if necessary. | My System Specs | | |

Welcome to SF, Space4092. First, please complete your system specs.
Did you install any memory before the upgrade? If so, sometimes you need to install in pairs.
When you try re-installing the OS, do you get past the bios screen? At what point does it lock up?
Do you have hard drive activity?
Can you swap out your graphics card?
Can you boot up on a live operating system DVD (e.g., Knoppix, Ubuntu Live, BartPE, etc)? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell and Custom OS Systems 1 and 2: Windows 7 Enterprise x64, Win 8 Developer CPU System 1: i7 2600@3.4GHz, System 2: AMD FX-4100 Zambezi 3.6G Motherboard System 1:Dell 06NWYK System 2: ASUS M5A97 AM3+ Memory System 1: 8GB System 2: 8GB Graphics Card System 1: ATI FirePro V4800 System 2: Radeon HD 6850 Sound Card System 1: onboard System 2: onboard Monitor(s) Displays System1: Viewsonic HDMI 24" Screen Resolution System 1: 1920x1080 System 2: 1920x1080 Case System 1: Dell System 2: Cooler Master Hard Drives System 1: Mirrored .5B drives System 2: Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s Internet Speed 10 MBPS |
