Is Win Easy Transfer "machine specific?" My daughter supports her business with a Win XP machine and this is now clearly faiing. Since the required new PC will not be available for a few days she is concerned that a total failure of the old PC will risk loss of documents and settings (although she has already backed up "My Documents" to an external HDD).
I recently re-formatted my own Win XP HDD and installed Windows 7 Home Premium instead using Win Easy Transfer with perfect results. I have now re-loaded the Easy Transfer programme onto a memory stick from my PC and, so far as I can see, my daughter should be able to use this to safely back-up both documents and settings to an external HDD pending delivery of the new machine.
Can anyone confirm that this is so, please? Failing this, could she use my own Windows 7 operating system disk (an OEM version) to obtain a copy of Easy Transfer? | My System Specs |
