    How to open up .iso file.Does it require any additional software to open iso file?

    Yes it does. Things like daemon tools, Alcohol120, IMGBurn, etc.

    7-zip which is free can open .iso files too

    Just to add that the .ISO file is meant to be burned to disk, (CD or DVD), after which it does not need special software to read the contents

    i think one has to burn it as an image, not just burning a cd.
    also winrar opens up .iso images.

    As Nigel has said, burn it to disk then read the contents off the disk or they can be copied to a file/folder right from the disk.


    Use the free ISO burner at the link below to burn another at a speed of now more than 4x and select to let the program to verify the disk before it finishes.

    IsoBuster is a great and worthy program that can open .iso files. One can copy/recover contents from a variety of image files. Have a look at it here and try the free version.
