    A Real Newbie Here!!!


    Hello! Pardon my stupid questions with my Windows 7. And if what I have posted is in the wrong section, please help me to move it. Sorry and thanks.

    Anyways, recently, I am experiencing some problems with my Windows 7 Ultimate lately and I'm too fed-up with the current 32-bit setup so, I google'd and found;

    To my shock, my computer is 64-bit capable...
    Here are my computer specs; (A real shitty computer, I know...)
    Current OS: Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit
    CPU: Acer MCP73, Dual Core Intel Core 2 Duo E4600, 2400 MHz (12 x 200)
    System memory: 2GB of RAM
    Display adapter type: NVIDIA GeForce 8400
    HDD size: 764 GB

    I would like to check, is it okay for me to go with 64-bit? Will I have a rough time using or is it okay? Do I have to take note of anything like softwares, etc after I have install 64-bit?

    everything seems to be fine...u can install 64 bit without any problem..But for optimum performance 4 GB RAM is recommended..

    I agree you should max out your memory to 4GB. This Microsoft article gives a bit more info about 32-bit vs. 64-bit:

    Thank you, guys! That would have solved my problem... I have bookmark'd the comparison page. It'll be useful for me to take note before attempting to switch. Looks like a 4 GB of RAM first before switching...

    You should note that there are a few programs that do not run in 64bit. The driver situation for 64bit is also not as good as for 32bit. That is usually not a big problem, but in some rare cases it can be a showstopper. I have 3 Win7 systems and in my book my 32bit with 3GB of RAM is optimal. The other two are 64bit with 4GBs of RAM.
