yea sorry for my bad english, trying though . But Toshhiba laptops have a specific software Toshiba Bulletin Board where u can make a recovery disk that's good enough to reboot ur computer to factory settings. This contains that toshiba bulletin board will stay on ur computer when u format to factory settings. it's standard. actually bulletin board is a source from toshiba where u can download drivers explicit for your system and stuff like that, but will it be deleted if i use that CD ? or will it just format my pc to factory settings while i'm using my own product key that's on the back of my laptop?

Confusing post that I don't understand, but.....you should be able to use your sister's Windows 7 CD to install on your own PC-----if you have your own valid Windows 7 product key.

    I remain confused.

But---a fresh installation of Windows to the C partition should not affect other partitions. I'm not sure where this "Toshiba Bulletin Board" is. If it is on C, it will be erased by a fresh install. If it is on another partition, it should survive if you don't wipe out your other partitions.

If you currently are able to make recovery disks, you should do so---before you attempt any fresh installs.

No---a fresh installation from a Windows 7 DVD will NOT restore to factory settings. Nor will it erase every partition unless you specifically tell it to do so.

If you want to restore to "factory settings" you have to either use recovery disks or use the recovery tools that may be contained on a separate recovery partition on your hard drive. I would assume you have such a partition, but I am not positive. Look in your owner's manual or in the Windows Control Panel for clues to a recovery partition. You may be able to access the recovery partition through a program listed in your start menu. Look for something named backup or recovery or something like that. Recovery might also be found in a boot menu that is accessible through a function key during the boot process.

But I don't know for sure that you have a recovery partition. At any rate, using recovery will not lead to the same result as a fresh installation from a Windows 7 disc.

If you intend to use your sister's disk, you should find out if it is a retail disk or an OEM disk and if that matches the type of product key you have. I am not sure if a retail disk can be used with an OEM product key, or vice versa.

Mark follow these steps to get a perfect clean reinstall of factory OEM: Reinstalling Windows 7.

What does it say exactly on your sister's DVD? A reinstallation DVD may work if its same version (others are removed) since SLP reactivation will be ignored by another machine and any OEM branding can be deleted from Computer>Properties.

Did you follow these steps to get factory Recovery to run from its partition? Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility

If so and it won't run then try as a last resort marking the Recovery partition Active to try to force it to boot after restart: Partition - Mark as Active .

You will need to use Method Two from DVD Command Line or Repair CD to mark Win7 partition or its SYstem REserved partition Active with Diskpart to restart them - take note now which one is set Active.

If these fail the your Recovery partition is useless and can be deleted during reinstall along with all other partitions once you have backed up your data externally. If you cannot get to your Data you can use DVD/Repair CD to Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console or use Paragon Rescue CD.

Another option is to order Recovery Disks from Toshiba tech support since you didn't make them when you had the chance.

An OEM disc can be installed only to one particular system--which usually means to one particular motherboard.

A retail disc can be installed as often as desired, to any hardware, BUT only to one system at a time.

Your situation is complicated by the fact that you have your sister's disc, which may be OEM or may be retail. It should say on the disc. And then you say you have your own product key. I don't know if your key is legal or if it is OEM or retail or whatever.

I'm not sure what you mean by "what will hve to install to make it running like now". If it's running OK now, why reinstall? If it is not running OK now, why would you want it to run like it is running now?

If you do a clean installation, you will have to reinstall all of your programs.

Thanks for the posts guys. @ Gregrocker : i saw the HDD recovery utility tutorial from toshiba wich also says in the beginning NOTE :Toshiba strongly recommends that you create recovery CDs / DVDs after installing your computer.
Well, when i bought my laptop the vendor didn't told me it was highly recommended to do this after u bought the laptop.
So now when i'm trying to make the disc it gives me an error,It states that the map 'HDD Recovery' on the second station on the first disk is missing. so i can't make that disk for some reason. @ignatztsonic how can i see the diffence between a retail and particular? the CD is for Windows 7 ultimate, and i have windows home premium. i know it would not be same with my legal key,and it would be bad for my computer. but what if i would still try this ? what will happen then? and it would work with the same key?

Please answer all of the question asked here and work through the steps, not just try one thing and ignore the rest.

Okeej i read everything now,but method 2 is my problem,i don't have that disc. or can u do it without because step 1 says 1. Boot into your Windows 7 installation or repair disc. but if i read further it says If you don't have a Windows 7 installation DVD, you can Create a Repair Disc. but even that i can't do,the link says it's possible i can make this cd from another computer, wich would be logical to do,but my sister has a VAIO wich is also another reboot system from VAIO software itself. and my other computer(dad) runs now windows 7 ultimate from that one CD i was talking about. th toshiba recovery utility i can't run at all, wheni try this to make a cd before windows started up it gives me that one error, and there i'm stuck,if i wouldn't have that i could a recovery disc from toshiba itself and can't find a solution. now the steps at methode 1 i don't fully understand what they mean with make a partition active? But could it be something with a backup? i actually never did a backup before. But with that Copy and paste thing i read something before. That some1 else with this problem went in f8 menu and said u needed to repair your computer first, and it should work after. well the person didn't answered anymore after that so i think he probably got it solved. but how can i get to that first screen wich says repair my computer if you go to the link from How to Copy & Paste in Recovery Console on Windows 7 or Vista.
