Windows 7: Clean install and former Raid 0

I want to slick my drive and do a clean install of the RC version. I currently have a Raid 0 configuration on 2 additional drives (not the OS drive) using the Asus P6T on-board controller. Will that Raid be preserved and thus the data as well? What is the best way to accomplish this with the least amount of angst? Thanks in advance for the help.

Think it depends on whether or not the raid0 configuration is a hardware or software based raid. If you created the raid from the bios (hardware) then you should be OK. If you created the raid from within the OS, using software, then I'm not sure.

Whatever you try, I would strongly recommend backing up your data volume before attempting.

Of course backing it up would negate any worries, but with upwards of half a terabyte of data, I would like to know if I need to first. I believe I used the Matrox Management Utility to stripe the drives.

Everything should be fine. I have 2 E-IDE drives running in Raid 1, initially set up with disk management in one of the previous Win 7 builds.

If I install any build of Win 7 to another partition like I do sometimes, it always detects the RAID fine. Other OS like XP and Vista don't though.

Thanks! And you're right. I took a chance and pulled the trigger and no issues whatsoever. I too used Disk Management originally and after the install it saw everything just like before. I'm on it now as a matter of fact.
