Hi saf79,
The reason there's a 64bit Internet Explorer is that it will utilize the 64bit architecture which will give better speed & performance. The only problem is that not all addons work with 64bit, for example there's no flash for 64bit at present.
Best off just using normal IE for now
OS
As I have probably stated elsewhere, I tend to use the 64-bit version of IE. For those cases where flash is required (or some other add-on not currently supported by 64-bit), I use the32-bit version but just for those instances.
Adobe has released a preview "Square," Flash for 64 bit IE. It's available for download at Adobe Labs - Adobe Flash Player 10.1. I'm using it in the 64 bit IE9 beta, it's supposed to work for IE7 & IE8, too.
