    Updates

I want to know if I should look for updates for the Main Circuit Board .I just updated chipset on our Vista computer and fixed a malfunction , but I then looked at the other drives for the Main Circuit Board and wondered if the Uniblue drive-search also are looking for them

By main circuit board, do you mean motherboard? Yes, you can check Intel for the latest drivers for your motherboard. Just like you would check NVidia, Sonic, etc.

Unlike XP and Vista, WIn7 has most of the drivers in its installer and available quickly via optional Windows Updates. Unless there is a performance problem, its best not to change out the chipset or other drivers willy-nilly.

If you'd like to test performance differences with the latest chipset from your computer or mobo maker's Support Downloads webpage, set a restore point which you can roll back if there is no appreciable improvement.

We have four computers and one External Master Mixer so we dont want to do system restore at all. Only maybe sytem check , but I will find out about performance later then

I know that, but we rather use Drive Clone and our own restore-pionts

If your performance is perfect, then there is no need at all to change drivers unless you notice performance lags or deficiencies.

The reason I suggested System Restore if you wish to try a newer chipset is that it is a collection of drivers and not just one which is easy to roll back in Device Manager.

However in the Chipset download Read Me file it will tell you what drivers are included so you can manually roll them back if you choose, just as with any other single driver installed.

We do not recommend turning off System Restore unless you have a good reason. It can save your System in many cases where a reinstall would be necessary. Frequent imaging can also help but isn't as flexible a solution as System Restore.

Slowness, deficiencies, or even the dreaded "hang" (getting stuck) - which should not occur at all in Win7.
