    OS problem

    i was dual booting Vista and xp and then i formatted my xp partition,installed a fresh copy of xp and now it automatically loads windows xp, it doesn't show where i use to select the OS to load

    my disk is partitioned c drive for Vista and e drive for win xp

    this is the contents of my xp's boot.ini file:

    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

    how do i manually add Vista to the boot.ini file of win xp so i can select Vista to boot?

    I think you will have more success finding assistance over at our sister site www.vistax64.com as this is mainly a Windows 7 forum.

    By all means if you do eventually migrate to Windows 7 then this is the only site you'll need to visit for any queries you may have :)

    Hello sdinesh76, welcome to Seven Forums!

    All you need to do is a startup repair to your Vista and it will add an entry for Vista to the Windows (dual boot) boot menu see, this tutorial at the link below and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.
