Im using a 32 bit Vers, and cannot install 64 bit version, help

i cant boot either from cd or USB(Disk on key), it skips the booting and starts regular windows. Yes, ive changed the bios settings to first boot from dvd/cd and USBs but it still doesnt work. Ive tried to open the installation inside windows and i ve had an error saying the the file version(the file is setup.exe which ive double clicked) isnt compatible with the version of the windows im running, and that i need to figure out what OS fits to my PC, 32 or 64 bit. btw i checked my pc with windows 7 upgrade advisor and i found out i actually CAN run a 64 bit windows on my system. i have both dvd and usb with the installation files but i just cant reach the installation in any way. please help me, thanks.

Hi yaliars, welcome to the forums

Within Windows try to right-click the setup.exe file and select (under the compatibility tab) compatibility for Vista [any SP]. Click ok then try running again.

Where did you get the x64 install media? Is it in fact bootable? How did you create the USB thumbdrive? It has to be done a certain way to make it bootable.

Where did you get the ISO file from? If it was a reputable source just burning the ISO file should create a bootable DVD. Also this utility > Microsoft Store: Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool Help < should create a bootable USB thumbdrive from the ISO file suitable for installing windows 7. That is assuming the ISO file was created from an original bootable DVD.

UltraISO always works for me but only if the iSO is sound. Where did you get it? Check it's HASH using Hashtab against the official Win7 Hash: Windows 7 RTM SHA-1 hash / checksums

You can't run 64 bit intaller from Windows 32 bit at all. Gotta boot it, as you seem to know.

Try wiping the HD to get the cleanest possible slate: SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

Remove all but 2gb of RAM to try install. Test your RAM with memtest86 CD for 5-6 passes or overnight.

Possible to install English version over German version of Win 7?
Hi there I bought a new Laptop here in Germany which comes, as you would expect, with a German version of Windows. I would prefer an English version though. It appears I'd have to update to Win Ultimate or Enterprise to be able to change the language which is quite expensive. However, I don't...

So I bought what I thought what the full version of Windows 7 Pro online for the student discount for $65. I got it all installed and the activation key wouldn't work. Long story short I got the upgrade version on accident. So I got that refunded and I'm about to just go buy Home Premium. I need...

Upgrade version vs clean install version
I need to know if I can use a clean install disk for Windows 7 Ultimate to upgrade from Vista or if I have to use an Upgrade version? I'm leaning towards buying the clean install disk so that if I should loose the hard drive at some future point I could just clean install Win 7 Ultimate from...
